新生 — Shinsei. Rebirth. New life. The shedding of what no longer fits.

What it means

新生 is two characters doing one job. 新 (shin) is new. 生 (sei) is life — birth, growth, raw existence. Together they read as rebirth: 新生児 (shinseiji) is a newborn, 新生活 (shinseikatsu) is a life started over. Not a refresh. A restart.

Where it comes from

新 is built from an axe (斤) against a tree (木) — the original sense is freshly cut, still green. That matters. In Japanese the word for new carries the cut inside it: something had to be severed for the new thing to exist. 生 is older and simpler — a pictograph of a shoot breaking through the ground.

Read together: the cut, then the growth. In that order.

Why we print it

新生 is the name of the line, so it had better mean something. Shinsei is the newest work — the pieces where we push construction and finish further than Core allows. Every one of them replaced an earlier idea that wasn't good enough.

That is the whole standard, compressed into two characters. Not a statement. A standard.
